Description
Peru has the ideal conditions for growing coffee with its mountains, rich volcanic soil, and tropical rainfall but has previously been over-looked. This coffee comes from a recently established project which set out to find Peru’s best coffee and helping the producers to enhance their offering, improving quality and reliability. New drying facilities were established to achieve a more consistent moisture level and lock in flavour, alongside a quality control lab where regular cupping takes place to ensure coffee is at its best. This focus on quality helps growers to fetch better prices and therefore reinvest in further improving their offering.
In 2022 an in-depth research project was established to track carbon farm emissions as part of efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of coffee production.
